HiPP Hypoallergenic (HA) Stage 1 Combiotik is suitable from birth onwards and is designed to meet the needs of children who are at risk of allergies. This formula can be used with babies that are not being breastfed or can be given as a supplement to breastfeeding. The milk protein can be a decisive factor in triggering allergies in humans. The HiPP Hypoallergenic product line is based on hydrolyzing the (cow) milk protein, which makes the protein molecules smaller, simpler and easier for baby to process. Stated differently, the hydrolyzed milk protein is less foreign to the human body than the natural cow milk protein.

HiPP has a strong foundation built on scientific research and provides everything necessary for a baby’s development, such as Vitamins A, C, and D. Vitamin D is essential for calcium absorption and bone growth and Omegas 3 & 6, naturally found in breast milk, are long chains of polyunsaturated fatty acids (LCPs) that help with brain and eye development.

It is crucial to the success of allergy prevention that the HA formula remain consistent in the first 4 to 6 months of your baby's life. Even a small amount of infant formula with non-hydrolyzed proteins can lead to sensitization and potentially jeopardize the benefits of a low-allergen formula.

PREPARATION INSTRUCTIONS

Preparation for all powdered formulas (also consistent with US FDA guidelines):

Boil water freshly for each of baby’s meals and allow to cool down to 120 degrees Fahrenheit (50 °C)
Pour in 2/3 of the necessary amount of boiled water into a clean and sterilized bottle
Using the scoop provided with your box of formula (note that spoon sizes vary by brand and even lot), add the correct number of leveled scoops of powder (1 leveled scoop of powder per 1oz / 30ml of water)
Close the bottle with the nipple and cap and vigorously shake
Add the remaining 1/3 of the necessary water to the bottle and shake again
Cool to drinking temperature (approximately 98 degrees Fahrenheit or ~ 37 °C) and ALWAYS test the temperature of the milk before feeding to avoid scalding or burning your little one

There are many mothers that regularly use distilled water without boiling it, apparently with no negative consequences. We cannot recommend this approach and there are actual reasons even the US FDA recommends pre-boiling tap or distilled water instead.

Almost perfect.

I was supplementing Kendamil Classic and Hipp Combiotik (Dutch formula) when my baby broke out in eczema at almost 4 months. I don’t produce enough breastmilk so I was desperate to find a high quality hypoallergenic formula. Thank God for Hipp HA and Bottles & Burps! It shipped pretty quickly at the most competitive price though I did have to supplement with Nutramigen for a day before it arrived. And let me tell you, Hipp HA is night and day compared to the US hypoallergenic formulas in ingredients, taste, and smell. While I was a little concerned when I opened the bag of Hipp as it smelled a little fishy, once mixed, the taste smell, and consistency are nearly identical to breastmilk and my baby took to it right away! The reason I’m giving it 4/5 stars is that 1) it does contain starch and palm oil which is a bummer, and 2) it seems to be constipating my baby who never struggled with this up until using this formula. But the good news is it cleared her eczema up immediately, and she does drink it well.

- breastfed baby easily takes this formula

Cons:
- contains starch and palm oil
- causes constipation in my baby
- can be a bit clumpy, even after vigorous shaking
- remember you must heat the water to between 114-120F to kill cronobacter bacteria as the powder is not sterile
- hard to scoop powder out of bag without making a mess - I cleaned out an old Kendamil tin can and store the powder in there

All in all, I recommend if your baby has allergies or sensitivities to cow’s milk.

My baby likes it

My baby has diarrhea after milk based formula. But with this one we finally have normal stool. My baby likes the taste of it. The delivery time was good, just make sure you order at least 4-5days before you run out of formula.
